Director Soi Cheang Pou Soi (SPL II: A Time for Consequences, The Monkey King) – and producers Wilson Yip (Paradox, Ip Man Franchise) and John Chong (The Invincible Dragon) – are currently prepping Media Asia’s Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (formerly Kowloon Walled City).

This upcoming actioner stars Louis Koo (Organized Crime and Triad Bureau), Sammo Hung (King Swindler), Richie Jen (Trivisa), Raymond Lam (Line Walker) and Philip Ng (Undercover Punch and Gun), and with action by Kenji Tanigaki (Enter the Fat Dragon).

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In is an adaptation of the cult manga series City of Darkness by Andy Seto. Set in the eighties inside the dangerous and enigmatic Kowloon Walled City, which was a de jure Chinese enclave within British colonial Hong Kong, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In follows troubled youth Chan Lok-kwun as he accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way. In the Walled City, he becomes close friends with Shin, Twelfth Master and AV. Under the leadership of Tornado, they resist against the invasion of villain Mr. Big in a series of fierce battles. Together, they vow to protect the safe haven that is Kowloon Walled City.

The project was originally intended for Donnie Yen (Ip Man 4: The Finale) and Andy Lau (The Bodyguard) with director Derek Kwok (Full Strike, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons) previously attached.

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In is currently headed for theatrical release at the end of this year (with a U.S. release from Well G USA). Until then, check a New Teaser, some stills from the film below – also – if you want to learn more about the real-life Kowloon Walled City, watch the documentary that follows:

I don’t think Andy Lau was ever announced or rumoured for Dragon City. I may very well be wrong, though. Where did you see that ?

These comments are a decade old! Talk about development hell. From super cool sounding Kowloon Walled City to sheety sounding Twilight of the legend of the fist of legend

    Hell yeah! Looks awesome

  12. Phil Chan says:

Somehow this has a chance of being released before Louis Koo’s A Step into the Past movie sequel LOL. Not that I’m complaining, Soi Cheang’s been on a hit spree lately, plus seeing Sammo on screen again is a huge plus!
