I guess this will be bare bones.

MPM, I hate to criticize because I think you do fantastic job on this site, but if you have the info available, would you be able to say whether new blu ray releases are region A, region free or whatever.

I’m in the UK, I refuse to illegally download films so sometimes I have to buy import blu rays from the states. My player is region free for dvds but only region B for blu rays. I’m sure I can’t be the only regular on here that lives outside of the states.

I guess the region info might not always be available which is fair enough.

    • You’re right. For most of the time, region info is not stated from my source, especially at this stage. More importantly, I’m very careful when giving info about a Blu-ray title (compatibility specs). I don’t want to steer someone in the wrong direction and be held accountable if info from the top was given wrong. I know this happens a lot.

But for this particular release, I’ll be sure and let you know as soon as I find out. But judging from Warner’s previous “archive collection” series, I believe it is Region A only. We’ll see.

Kudos to you for not doing the download thing. That only helps for more obscure releases like this film.

Thanks for the response. I totally understand. Keep up the good work.

I’ve always liked this film. It’s a good ‘bad’ film. I’ve never been too sure if the tongue in cheek nature of it was intentional or not. But it is a rare opportunity to see the great Brandon Lee in action, that’s reason enough to watch it (well, that and Dolph Lundgren’s ridiculous ‘Samurai’ outfit at the end of the film).

This is the best news ever!!! I know the likeliness is slim, but it would be nice to have some sort of extra to the blu-ray release. For being the best buddy cop film ever made, IMO, there should be something for the fans (deleted scenes, outtakes, commentary, etc). If not, your just paying a Blu-Ray price for a film that barely counts as a full length film (barely past 70 minute mark if you don’t count opening and ending credits).

This is the film that got me excited about Brandon Lee (I wasn’t able to see “Bruce Lee Jr. in Dragon Blood II”* in 1990 when I was visiting the Philippines). With 7 fight scenes (5 with Brandon), the film definitely delivers.

Pat Johnson did a great job choreographing for the actors. Brandon was about to show off everything he learned from the Inosanto Academy, from JKD, Muay Thai to Kali.

Side note, It’s pretty interesting that the release is a day after the anniversary of Bruce Lee death.

    Again, awesome news.

    * That’s how they advertised “Laser Mission” in the Philippines

I’m really hoping that this will be a proper letterboxed format release and not the fullscreen version that the prior dvd releases have been. As always, thank you for the heads up!
