On July 1, 2021, Dynasty Warriors, the live-action film based on the popular videogame of the same name, is heading to Netflix.

The fantasy actioner, directed by Roy Chow (Nightfall, Rise of the Legend), stars Louis Koo (Three), Wang Kai (Railroad Tigers), Han Geng (The Great Detective), Tony Yang (The Adventurers), Justin Cheung (3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy), Ray Lui (Flash Point), Gulnazar (Police Story 2013) and Carina Lau (From Vegas to Macau II).

The games brought The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Luo Guanzhong’s classic novel about a wartorn era in Chinese history, to the hack-and-slash genre. KOEI released the first Sangoku Musō (Dynasty Warriors) game in 1997 for the PlayStation as a spinoff of its Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game franchise (via ANN).

Dynasty Warriors originally opened in Mainland China on April 30, and in Hong Kong on April 29.

  1. CJ says:

I enjoy those dopey games. Sometimes you just need a game where you can wade into dozens of enemies at a time with an axe the size of a schoolbus.

I cannot wait to wait for this one!
