“Rise of the Legend” Chinese Theatrical Poster

A live-action Chinese film based on the popular videogame Dynasty Warriors is in-the-works from director Roy Chow (Nightfall, Rise of the Legend).

If this upcoming movie is anything like the “hack and slash” video game, it’ll be loosely around the Chinese historical text Records of the Three Kingdoms (via wiki).

According to AFS, the film stars Wang Kai (Railroad Tigers), Han Geng (The Great Detective), Tony Yang (The Adventurers), Justin Cheung (3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy), Louis Koo (Three) and Ray Lui (Flash Point).

Dynasty Warriors is currently shooting in New Zealand. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Until then, here’s a look at what Roy Chow is capable of:

    I enjoy those dopey games. Sometimes you just need a game where you can wade into dozens of enemies at a time with an axe the size of a schoolbus.
