Following their paperback release for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A Novel on June 29, 2021, HarperCollins is also releasing a hardback edition that will include more behind-the-scenes photos, film posters from the long and storied career of Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a script for an episode of Dalton’s famous (albeit fictional) TV show Bounty Law, and a stylized Mad Magazine parody called “Lousy Law: Loser’s Last Ride.”

The book is the director’s long-awaited first work of fiction — at once hilarious, delicious, and brutal — is the always surprising, sometimes shocking new novel based on his Academy Award-winning film.

As with the film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A Novel visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore.

Check out a recent Trailer tie-in (for the paperback edition) includes never-before-seen footage from the 2019 film, as well as excerpts from the expanded storyline the book has to offer.

The hardback edition is available for pre-order from Amazon.com for its November 9, 2021 release.

It wouldn’t be QT’s first movie of that nature, ‘cus he *did* write for Natural Born Killers. But, nonetheless, I’m not sure why he’d want to tackle a subject which was just covered on the recently canceled David Duchovny series, Aquarius.

  2. opiumkungfuasshole says:

This is going to fucking rock my cock!!! Are you kidding me? Just the subject matter alone in a QT universe is going to be bonkers!!

  3. opiumkungfuasshole says:

Is me and MPM74 only hyped for this?? Come on man, this is you guys wheelhouse, the fuk?

  4. Ningen21 says:

‘Before you dismiss this project as distasteful, imagine the possibilities if Tarantino re-wrote history in a positive light – à la Inglourious Basterds – where Tate survives after being left for dead;’

Then maybe she’d get a divorce from that rapey husband of hers, and people would finally stop defending him?

  5. Ningen says:

Man, a $100 milion budget for what’d normally be a tv movie of the week is *insane*. Anyway, I’m just glad you emphasized the most important part of the story, which is that Harvey’s a cunt. 🙂

    • Ningen says:

Also, not that I’m into these things in the first place. But I wonder how is he gonna ‘compete’ with that recent Dahmer movie.

  6. Axleu says:

“which involved Sharon Tate, the actress and wife of director Roman Polanski”

And a new other people qui didn’t deserve to die toi!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Axleu says:

I meant: And a few other people who didn’t deserve to die too!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Andrew Hernandez says:

I wasn’t sure if a pulp version of the Manson murders would be up my alley. It sounds like it’s just part of a larger story in this movie, and I’m sure it’ll be a real trip.

I’m sure DiCaprio and Pitt will have great chemistry, and I look forward to who else will join them.

  9. Aerosniff says:

    Fuck you Quentin.

  10. Andrew Hernandez says:

This is quite a cast so far! I’m wondering how Burt Reynolds will do considering his rumored failing health.

Will Tarantino get a good performance out of Luke Perry? I saw him in the stage version of When Harry Met Sally, and he was awful. He was essentially doing someone’s impression of his charicature.

As for Bruce Lee, Danny Chan seems to be the go to guy for the role. It would be nice if Phillip Ng could do it again just to wash away memories of that other flick.

    • JJ Bona says:

“This is quite a cast so far! I’m wondering how Burt Reynolds will do considering his rumored failing health.” If you look up George Spahn (the character he is playing), his failing health definitely fits the bill.

  11. Sharon says:

    This is gonna be killer…

  12. Ron says:

Mike Moh is a great choice for Bruce Lee. He can pull off that “post ‘Green Hornet’ pre ‘The Big Boss'” Bruce.

Not like what “Birth Of The Dragon” did with Ng looking like “Hong Kong Superstar” Bruce Lee*.

*But I will say that that they were Gung Fu accurate having Bruce fight in a Wing Chun type style. To bad the choreography wasn’t up to Sammo Hung or Donnie Yen Standard standard.

  13. OpiumKratomandKush says:

Don’t know much about Mike Moh but I hope QT gives him some bad ass lines at least. The wardrobe gotta be pimpin too. Bruce lookin pimp back in them days.

  14. Alvin George says:

Sadly, Burt Reynolds will not be appearing in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” He passed away on September 6, 2018. He had yet to film any scenes. May Burt Reynolds rest in peace.

  15. Kyle Warner says:

Sets a more comedic tone than I was expecting. But it’s just the first trailer. The Bruce Lee scene is the biggest highlight for me — I laughed at the Pitt line.

  16. Andrew Hernandez says:

So far, the movie looks like what I was hoping for! After everything DiCaprio went through in The Revenant, I was hoping he’d do something fun!

  17. Paul says:

QT has lost me , haven’t enjoyed much of his for years now

  18. Andrew Hernandez says:

I finally watched it, and I enjoyed Once Upon just as much as everything else in Tarantino’s filmography. I liked the movie references, the dialogue, the acting, and I even liked the long drawn out scenes that would probably try other people’s patience.

As far as the controversy of Bruce Lee’s portrayal goes, I don’t like that he was a jerk boasting about how he can cripple people, but I don’t think that sequence was as horribly offensive as the rest of the world has made it out to be.

Even as a kool-aid drinking fan I tried to be objective, and I think the Bruce Lee scene was a satire on other people’s “hero worship” of Lee. Those same people also say that it makes him look like a weakling, but I don’t agree with it either. At the same time I can’t blame Shannon Lee for being protective of her dad.

  19. David Moreau says:

    Insulting to Bruce Lee’s memory!

  20. Ningen21 says:

I heard QT in an article saying what if Lee fought a Green beret? Does Chuck ‘Delta Force’ Norris count?

  21. Marijan says:

The scene with Bruce lee needs to be cut from the movie

  22. Anonimus says:

This scene is painful to watch Quentin should be ashamed for himself

  23. Andrew Hernandez says:

I was hoping the extended fight scene would be included in the home release. I heard it was more intense.

  24. The mostly hotly anticipated movie tie-in novel since The Blood Bond?

  25. Mike Retter says:

It will just be a book about feet.
