RELEASE DATE: October 16, 2018

On October 16, 2018, Well Go USA will be releasing the Blu-ray & DVD for Erik Matti’s BuyBust (read our review). This acclaimed action/martial arts film stars MMA sensation, Brandon Vera (Kamandag), Anne Curtis (Blood Ransom) and Victor Neri (Citizen Jake).

Matti hit the nail right on its head with his 2013 contract killer-themed thriller On the Job. His recent film, Honor Thy Father, has met with similar praise. Now, Matti takes a stab at the martial arts genre with BuyBust, which tells the story of cop who finds herself trapped inside a dangerous slum area in Manila after a poorly planned buy-bust operation goes awry.

    This looks terrific!

All those memories will be lost in time…like bullets in the rain!

  3. Sharon W says:

    Looking forward to this!

  4. Jerry Johnson says:

I really hope the rest of the film isn’t shot this poorly. The editing gave me a headache. It really was bad but may just be the clip.

  5. Saku says:

For the sake of realism and honesty, I would be impressed if they depicted how Filipino cops routinely carry out extrajudicial killings of people including teenagers merely on the accusation of drug-dealing without evidence, or the killing of individuals who are non-violent users. There is a serious problem in the Philippines right now where the poor and disenfranchised can be accused of anything and lose their life because of a modern day witch-hunt, but nothing is said or done about it because most of the middle-class are completely content with it not unlike how white America turned a blind eye to the poor and disenfranchised Black population who could be lynched for any reason on any particular day while people turned a blind eye. In the Philippines, the class system has rendered the poor without a right to due process.

I wonder if this will be a commentary of the situation that goes on in the slums and how people are treated by authorities, or merely a film to dehumanize the slums and program the middle-class theater goers to further celebrate violent crackdowns because it’s the hip thing to do regardless of who gets caught up in the crossfire.

  6. Andrew Hernandez says:

This looks like Sonny’s Sison’s crowning achievement so far.

  7. Iko says:

is this a rip off off the movie The Raid, they should at least use a unique title for the movie.. like Tokhang 🙂
