On October 8th, 2019, Well Go USA will be releasing the Blu-ray for Kung Fu Monster (aka When Robbers Meet the Monster), a fantasy wuxia directed by Andrew Lau (Legend of the Fist) and produced by Derek Yee (Sword Master).

In Kung Fu Monster, several heroes of Greenwood are preparing to rob the government of the people’s destiny. They have decided on an action plan and their respective division of labor. However, things get complicated when a monster falls into the mix.

The film stars Louis Koo (Paradox), Zhou Dongyu (The Thousand Faces of Dunjia), Haden Kuo (Tiny Times trilogy), Cheney Chen (The Great Wall), Bao Bei’er (Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal) and Gordon Lam (The Brink).

    “Raped by an Angel” (1993) is not the debut of Andrew Lau.
    “Against All” (1990)” is his first one.

    How is that a billion of these types of films get made each year in China/Hong Kong? They all get progressively worse as well. I just tried watching the new Detective Dee film and it is terrible. I’m not sure if Hark is even capable of making a “realistic” film these days. League of Gods I actually enjoyed but most of these fantasy films are huge disappointments and a waste. These super talented people are all stuck in fantasy land for some reason and it is driving me crazy. It’s cool to se Andrew Lau back doing these films though. These were his bread and butter back in the day. I still dig A Man Called Hero, The Duel, Storm Riders etc..
