If you’re fan of Tokyo Raiders (2000) and its sequel, Seoul Raiders ( 2005), then get your go-go gadgets ready for Europe Raiders (read our review).

Jingle Ma (Silver Hawk) returns to the director’s chair for the 3rd entry of this star-studded series. It should also be noted that Europe Raiders is produced by Wong Kar-wai (The Grandmaster), which is a departure from the arthouse-style projects his name is usually associated with.

In Europe Raiders (aka Paris Raiders), Tony Chiu-Wai Leung (Hard Boiled) reprises his role as a detective who wears a jacket full of neat toys and a mean umbrella. This time around, Leung is joined by Kris Wu (xXx: Return of Xander Cage), Tiffany Tang (The Storm Warriors), Du Juan (Lost in Hong Kong), and last but not least, Thai martial arts sensation JeeJa Yanin (Chocolate).

Europe Raiders is getting a domestic on August 17, 2018. Don’t miss its latest Trailer below:

    0:36 – Conan Lee style!

I remember I loved Jingle Ma’s ‘Hot War’ back in the day. I wonder if it’s unwatchable now. Still, I’ll give this flick a shot. Why not? It’s not every day that we get to see Tony Leung back in action.

Hot War was better than other people gave it credit for. Terrence Yin was pretty bad in the film, but it was a decent if a bit corny Hollywood style HK flick.

I know hkfilm.net and others hate the Raiders films, but I had a lot of fun with them. They were enjoyable escapist fluff pieces, and I hope this one is too.

    Does Tony Leung ever age?

I caught this in Maryland, and I was pleased. It’s safe to say that only people who liked the previous two films will want to check out Europe Raiders.

Tony Leung is great at always. Weather he’s in a serious crime picture, silly comedy, or character study, he always treats the material at face value, and he also looks like he’s having fun.

With the changing climate in the action genre, it was nice to seem him employing flying knees to the head and arm locks in the fight scenes.

Tony Leung and Tiffany Tang have good chemistry, and Kris Wu benefits from having a veteran actor guide him through the movie.

The plot is just as overwritten as the previous films, so some people may not like that.

Cung Le and Jeeja Yanin are only around for the end fight, it it was nice to see them too, and hey get a decent amount of fisticuffs in.

Yuen Qiu also gets in on the action with Leung Kar Yun and Lo Meng as the senior fighters.

It was a fun time at the theatre.

    • Cool stuff! It’s also playing in cinemas here in Sydney, so I should check this out at some point. I need a movie to redeem Tiffany Tang from the atrocity that was ‘Bounty Hunters’, so hopefully this can do it.

‘Tokyo Raiders’ was good fun, although Jingle Ma still deserves a punch in the face for somehow managing to make Seoul look like one of the most bland and sterile cities in the world for 2005’s ‘Seoul Raiders’. Talk about a missed opportunity. I’m curious to see what he’ll do with the scope of a whole continent to work with.

I thought that was always a trademark of Jingle Ma to make his films look sterilized and polished. I think the only reason Hot War doesn’t is because the film print wasn’t preserved.

I’d say he makes the European locales look good, but they definitely have that “polished” look to them.

Now I hope they set the fourth movie in Los Angeles for obvious reasons.
