DI KIT'S REVIEW: So what if Jackie Chan does his own stunts? What Stanley Tong does to Elaine Lui and Nina Li Chi is insane. This flick is pretty cool and has everything an adventure movie needs like bugs, monsters, natives, cheesy bad guys, and kung fu. After the opening action sequence it takes a while for it to get going, but once it does it doesn't stop until the credits roll. There are no stunt doubles here as Elaine and Nina hide from bad guys in a tree only to emerge covered in black scorpions. They run and slide down a hill into a river and then get swept over a waterfall. Back on shore some komodo dragons attack them. After being caught by the bad guys and after a fight they escape and end up hanging from a helicopter. The end of the movie shows some out takes and bloopers that show that what Elaine and Nina went through was real. The crew pluck squirming scorpions off Nina and a crying Elaine. Next a crewmen drags waterlogged Nina from the river and then it shows another crewmen come to beat away a komodo dragon that gets too close to Nina. The bad guys are some gweilos and a tiger claw fighting chick who are backed up by a tribe of cocaine addicted warriors. Look for some cool kung fu fights from Fan Siu Wong and Elaine Liu as they take on the baddies. Of course it all comes together at the end for the obligatory brawl which ends with Fan Siu Wong and Elaine hanging from a helicopter, and it's really them. If you're in the mood for action, adventure, kung fu, and half-naked natives then check it out!
