  1. Lundon says:

Hall and Oates music video for “She’s Gone.” The most random music video I have ever seen. There is a woman who walks by as they sing until the devil puts a suit coat on one of the singers. Once the singer has the jacket on they walk off stage leaving the devil to take a take a seat.

  2. Cleofis says:

H&O’s magnificent perms float spectrally over an abandoned (?) in the woods (?) before solidfying into a 70s set somewhere, and the devil get the last laugh.

  3. Ben says:

Did the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame know about this at the time that Hall & Oates were inducted in 2014?

  4. Frankie C. says:

A day after hearing about David Bowie’s passing I come across this???????? Thanks City On Fire. I’m only kidding. Hall and Oates are legendary!!!!

  5. Lee Golden says:

    “She’s Gone..”

    Story of my love life.

  6. Ron Raymundo says:

I know at the time it was supposed to look “artsy” back then, but it’s hard do that on video quality.
Also, was that a penguin tux Oates was wearing when he started playing the guitar?
And Dude, John Oates so looks like Miguel in that video.

  7. Matt says:

One of the greatest musical groups of all time, and videos like this (and later ones that are much worse) are why they are often overlooked, ha!

I love the part where there is some serious Daryl Hall vocals and he’s smoking, not lip syncing at all.

  8. Andrew says:

The video looks like the inspiration for the movie Friday.. Smokey and Craig sitting around smoking like Hall & Oates lol… Great Song Though!!

  9. hank says:

Two very cool and handsome men relax in some comfortable chairs outside their log cabin and lament the loss of the mysterious “she”. Later, they stand up, and one man (Oates? Hall? Impossible to say.) plays his guitar for us.

  10. Nick L. says:

Getting high could cause poofy hair, garage sale furniture and the devil.

  11. Paul says:

The most soulful hair and bassline combo in the past 60 years. But wait, add a silky smooth voice to the mix and you have Hall and Oates!

  12. Doug Lunsford says:

this video is very casual. they just kick it in chairs the whole time. i like that.

decent song, but its no Maneater.

  13. John Chang says:

Hall & Oates sing “She’s Gone” in a house in the woods, we’re led to believe, as a woman and a devil walk by them and, eventually for the guitar solo, the guitarist gets a coat with flipper sleeves. It’s all kind of surreal, almost like a Lynch film.

  14. Opiumkungfuasshole says:

Let’s all hit the doobie, act like y’all knew me. Sit back and enjoy some hall and Oates and a movie, on me. If I win, 😉

  15. Anishiogo-San says:

Hahaha, that video is so cheesy, Love the 80’s! Hall & Oates had a great songs like Man Eater, Out of Touch (My fav), Kiss On My List, Private Eyes…Are they still playing? Say It Isn’t So 🙂

  16. Demon says:

Hall & Oates looking SUPER excited to be filming the video for “She’s Gone” 🙂

  17. David says:

I was thinking that they looked very stoned. When Oats puts the on the penguin jacket I know they really are LOL…..Oh MPM I am amazed at how you find these gems.

  18. Jeff says:

Thank you for introducing H&O…. wish I didn’t get to see it. I should have dimmed the screen to darkness and just listen to their song.

  19. Mo says:

I truly believe this video should be remade shot for shot. Thank you, Hall & Oates.

  20. Leeroy says:

Cocaine is one hell of a drug…

  21. Chad Harry says:

    I’m gone
    Oh I Oh I
I’d better learn how to forget this
    I’m gone
    Oh I Oh I
I’d pay the devil to forget this video
    I’m gone
Yet it’s still a good song

  22. Zack says:

You are initially teased with the title, “She’s Gone”, only to then be surprised by the image of a beautiful woman sitting in a chair, transparent, overlaying another image of a modest abode, Presumably that of our missing subject; or is it our mournful crooners? When we realize that our beautiful woman is in fact our lovelorn protagonist, we take in the scene more completely, and we look to our right (his left) to find another kind of soulmate: John Oats. John Oats. We see flashes of two revenants, one hopeful, both sinister, equal in their verisimilitude. By the end of our brief vacance, we are left to treasure more the relationship between our heartbroken friend and the first mate sat beside him. As the storm approaches, not one but two stand together, facing the dark cloud head on, as if to say, “one may be a man, but two become a shelter.” A shelter from the pain, no doubt, and although love is lost in the figurative sense, love will always be the reason to keep going on. Darryl Hall, John Oats: the figure of love in two halves, never to be broken.

  23. Prodigal Son says:

Wow… Just, wow. I feel stoned just watching this.

  24. Tannor Patten says:

Two chairs, bothered by the men sitting in them, desire to be released from the hell they are enduring with the help from the woman in the dress, and the devil himself. The woman, and Lucifer, attempt to distract the men by walking by in sequence, but the men only react with disgust and by spewing cash around their chairs. The chairs’ plan failed. When all hope has seemingly fleeted, Satan improvises by introducing a coat to the sleeveless man, assuming he was cold. The man obliges, stand up, adorns the coat, and notices his instrument at his side. The man decides to play, and inspires the other man to raise up in the glory of music as well. Freedom, thought the chairs. Sweet freedom. As the men begin the circle the chairs, with the addition of the Devil, the chairs realize that they are prey. Freedom is not theirs. The men leave, but Lucifer, being the scheming mastermind behind it all, seizes one chair by sitting in it with the glow of victory on his face, with a slight pan to glare at his next target; the other chair.

  25. Nick G says:

The low production value and dim lighting makes that video far more uncomfortable than it should be.

  26. Drew00 says:

Two space guitarist in a galactic opera ponder the meaning of… LOVE BABY! As they sit in their dandy chairs, it strikes them: “like man, love is totally cruel. She’s really gone.”

  27. Stefan Simovic says:

Hall and Oates remind me of shopping at Value City for whatever reason.

  28. Eric V says:

“She’s Gone” by the amazing music duo of Hall & Oates. I’m actually a huge fan of the “Abandoned Luncheonette” album and always felt this song fit perfectly on it. In my opinion, the video has somewhat of a “depressing-like feel” to it, but also inspiring at the same time!! It reminds me of when I was a kid and watching it on TV! I think the semi-dark feel mood that this video creates inspired a lot of filmmakers/writers in late 70’s, early 80’s, and even today! ~ Great post City On Fire!! 🙂
