"Commitment" Korean Theatrical Poster
Hong Kong star Cecilia Cheung (Legendary Amazons, 12 Nights) and Seung-Hyun Choi (Tazza: The Hidden Card, Commitment), better known as T.O.P. – his pop idol stage name – are currently putting finishing touches on Out of Control, a big-budget German-Chinese co-production, directed by Axel Sand (Alarm for Cobra 11) and Richard Lin.
According to Variety, the story involves a Chinese film and martial arts star (Cheung) who is ensnared by a dangerous plot while visiting the Berlin Film Festival. Her survival and the success of a major rescue mission depend on a Korean secret agent (T.O.P.), who is also her ex-fiance.
A release date is still pending, but until then, don’t miss the film’s exciting trailer (via AFS).
Cecilia Cheung is still kicking around, I see. I would have thought she would retire once she married like the majority of HK actresses do.
The trajectory for so many Hong Kong starlets is exactly the same. It goes: beauty queen, TV star, girlfriend roles in films, leading roles in films, trophy wife to a rich businessman, retirement.
It happens to them all eventually. Even superstars like Brigitte Lin and Cherie Chung obeyed the Chinese patriarchal traditions.
In the case of Cecilia Cheung, you missed the important career step of ‘photo session with Edison Chen’. 😛 Most recently she was fired from ‘League of Gods’ for her usual antics of constantly showing up late for filming.
