The first Trailer for Tomb Raider, the anticipated reboot of the 2001-2003 film series (based on the highly successful video game franchise) has been released.

Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) steps into the role of Lara Croft (previously played by Angelina Jolie), the daughter of a missing adventurer, who must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared.

Tomb Raider also stars Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One), Dominic West (The Wire) and Alexandre Willaume (The Last Kingdom).

Hong Kong cinema fans will welcome the inclusion of Daniel Wu (Sky on Fire), who has a substantial co-starring role. Wu continues the tradition of well-known Asian talent showing up in the Tomb Raider film world. In 2003, both Simon Yam (Mrs K) and Terence Yin (Zombie Fight Club) appeared in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Tomb Raider opens on March 16, 2018. Don’t miss the New Trailer below:

  1. I don’t know. It looks good. But so did Assassins Creed and that was one big mess. I wished they would stop adapting videogames since they will never ever be able to translate or recreate the gaming experience.

Looks good. Call me a snob, but I was almost turned off by the trailer’s music: A new rendition of Destiny’s Child’s SURVIVOR. I’ll give it a shot when it comes to Netflix or Prime. =)

      • Paul Bramhall says:

This looks like complete tripe. ‘Million Dollar Baby’ meets ‘The Lost City of Z’ attempting to be passed off as a Lara Croft movie. Where’s Simon Yam and Daniel Craig!? Where are the bungee rope assisted dances in the manor!?

  2. Z Ravas says:

I’m a gamer geek but even I can admit that most video game movies are barely watchable (if I’m charitable, I can say I enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill movies). That said, I will give this a watch, because I absolutely love the rebooted Tomb Raider games that have come out in the last few years and this looks like a direct adaptation of the first entry in the series.
