According to the latest issue of BLR, Alex Proyas was in the process of releasing a definitive director’s cut of The Crow, but due to studio politics, his plans fell through.

This is what Proyas told BLR: “There’s a pretty good director’s cut of The Crow and I’d love to do it one day, but last time we tried to put something together, negotiations with the studio fell apart because they were not willing or able to give me the creative control over the project I had asked for. Until I can be assured that I will be allowed to make this in a correct and respectful manner, a definitive Crow will sadly never be done.”

Wow, that sucks. If any movie deserves proper treatment from the studio, it’s The Crow. I wonder what’s in the director’s cut.

I’ve seen the deleted footage, it’s extensions to the action scenes and the violence, Eric gets shot 5 times instead of two, Eric stabs tin tin three times instead of once, you see the knife go into Gideon’s hand as well as him pulling it out afterwards, Gideon gets shot five times instead of twice, the bullet hole in Eric’s hand when fanboy shoots him in the hand was bloodier, the club shootout was MUCH bloodier and gorier, grange was hit with more bullets in the church shootout, top dollar’s sister death had graphic close ups of her eyes getting pecked out, and top dollar’s death was gorier, it had a close up of him getting impaled through the mouth and his stomach exploding, and The uncut shootout is in the deleted scenes on my DVD by the way. the crow is one of my all time favorite action films/revenge films and I definitely wanna see the director’s cut now with ALL the uncut footage.

There’s the whole Skeleton Cowboy stuff that can be re-edited and a whole lot more then what you mentioned. Simply adding the Skeleton Cowboy stuff will change the story dramatically as it changes how The Crow gets its powers.

unless they cut off the whole idiotic “kill the crow, kill the clown” stuff won’t change much.
