There’s a new rumor going around that The Wachowski siblings – the duo behind The Matrix, Cloud Atlas and the upcoming Jupiter Ascending – are in the process of developing a new trilogy of Matrix films.

Latino Review broke the news with this information: We’ve been told that the Wachowski’s have already started the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio. No word if they will want to direct but my money says “Claro que Si!”.

So, will Keanu Reeves be back? Will Yuen Woo Ping be handling the fighting choreography? For all we know, the new set of films may be a set of remakes. Whatever the case, cityonfire.com will keep you updated. Stay tuned!

I don’t see a new trilogy as anything but bombing. I mean the first one was great, the others were disappointing and ten years on, I don’t see the interest. People forget that The Matrix was popular because it came at a time when we’re all interested in computers and technology, I don’t see this really finding an audience now. The 90s as it was had a real love for technology with the whole virtual reality phase, but as I see it that trend has long been forgotten. Granted I know about Inception (Which was an overrated bore), but The Matrix was trendy and now it’s a relic of the late 90s.
