RELEASE DATE: September 5, 2017

On September 5, 2017, Well Go USA is releasing the Blu-ray & DVD for Iron Protector (read our review), which is better known as Super Bodyguard (Well Go USA most likely changed its title to avoid confusion with Sammo Hung’s The Bodyguard).

Iron Protector is a new martial arts movie directed by and starring Yue Song (King of the Streets). Song plays Wu-Lin, who chooses a dark path to seek for revenge, and take the law in his own hands. Wu-Lin is not just a regular man, he is the successor of an ancient, once powerful Chinese clan, the “Iron Feet”.

The film also stars Wrath of Vajra’s Shi Yanneng (aka Xing Yu) and Special ID’s Collin Chou.

  1. KamenZo says:

Awww come on stop with “The NEW Bruce Lee” tagline. After watching the trailer they will NEVER live up to it.Just because the film claim to have NO visual fx & tricks don’t make it the next big thing. From some of the shots in the trailer, there is no way in hell they did not use fx & tricks.Xing Yu & Collin Chou deserve better.

  2. El_Cinefilo says:

No Visual effects or camera tricks? So I guess those wires just erased themselves then?

I mean it looks decent but trying to sell it like that is just going to get people ready to slate it.

  3. David says:

What a boat load of crap. No wires? No camera tricks? No visual effects? The film may be ok. But stop with all those claims.

  4. christopher parr says:

The trailer looks alright, what makes people (including me) not excited to see it, is the self proclamation of this guy being Bruce Lee. I’m not the biggest fan of Donnie Yen’s films, but I could easily find this time of action in Flashpoint. At most, it’ll probably come out as another Once Upon a Time in Shanghai, another good movie with too high of expectations. There’s gotta be some sort of special effects that they’re not telling us about (obviously). As KamenZo said, Xing Yu really does deserve to have a better role or movies, since he is indeed an actual disciple.

  5. Sharon L Walsh says:

I agree with all of the above. There is DEFINITELY wire work here, and while it’s hard to tell by the trailer alone, it sure looked like a lot of cutaway scenes to mimic a real, long fight that is actually filmed in starts and stops like most Western films.

And the next Bruce Lee? Seriously, they tried to tag Jackie Chan with that title back in the day. Jackie was the first to say he didn’t want to be the next Bruce; he wanted to be the first Jackie. And I’d bet these actors agree. Take them on their own merit and stop comparing them to a ghost, for pete’s sake!

  6. Mo says:

“No visual effects, no camera tricks…but lots of goofy wire work…”

  7. Dan says:

Dude needs a haircut but damn that looks like it could be fun. Sure the “No Stuntmen, No Camera Tricks etc….” tagline is ridiculous, but they said the same thing about Jackie in the early 90s and he’d been using stunt doubles for many years.

I will definitely be checking this one out.

  8. Lee says:

Looks fun! When does it release in the US??

  9. Michael says:

When does it come out on blueray at us???

  10. Stuart says:

    Looked for this everywhere.
    Whens the DVD release date?

  11. Ken Hashibe says:

I loved Super Bodyguard! One of the most exhilarating and unintentionally hilarious movies I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to buy it on blu-ray and show all my friends.

  12. Daddy says:

Fuckin’ finally. Been trying to see this since I found out about it at AFM like two years ago.
